Case Study 1: South St, Lewes, East Sussex
Property type: Mid-terrace 200 hundred year old house
Project: Earthwise Construction were instructed to carry out a whole house eco-renovation, including a single storey extension and loft conversion.
Challenges: The project involved extensive groundworks and drainage engineering on a very compact site, as well as converting an oddly shaped half loft into an attractive bedroom.
Overview: The project provided an ideal opportunity for the owners to take advantage of a full house eco-renovation. This involved identifying and remedying all un-insulated areas of the house and upgrading all windows to eliminate draughts. The levels of insulation installed throughout the property were far above and beyond that required by building regulations.
Materials used: These included locally sourced chestnut cladding, Accoya high performance doors and windows, ‘Warmcel’ recycled paper insulation and Lindab steel guttering and downpipes.
